As of today, all twelve chapters of Girl Walk // All Day are live and available for free on Gothamist. We can’t thank you enough for your supportive and encouraging emails, tweets, comments and words of all kinds along the way. 

Many people have emailed to ask where they can purchase the film, or how they can see it in full, rather than in chapters. We agree: seeing the film in full on big screen with loud music and space for dancing is the best way to experience it. THIS IS NOT A MOVIE MADE FOR THE WEB!! To that: we’re working on providing the full non-serialized version of the film online (either for sale or for digital streaming) as soon as possible but want to ensure we’re taking all legal matters into consideration due to the nature of the soundtrack. Please be patient as we work through this! 

So, how can you see Girl Walk // All Day in full?

1. We’re taking the film ON TOUR and doing a series of live, interactive screenings (+ dance parties!) that are all about making your film-watching experience a fully immersive experience. We’ll be announcing some screening dates later this week on the west coast and in the northeast. The best way to learn about these is to subscribe to our mailing list (in the site footer), follow us on twitter, or check in on facebook. We’ll also be posting information to our events page. Come out and see us at one of these events. 

2. Request a screening in your area. Our request-a-screening map helps us know where our biggest audiences are, so make a mark and tell all your friends to make a mark on the map too. 

3. Let us know if you have a venue that can host us for a screening by sending an email to hi@girlwalkallday.com. Our very broad criteria for a screening space includes:

— Fits anywhere from 50 to 500 people

— Has an AV and projector setup

— Could be a concert venue, photo studio, cool bar, movie theater, art space, your ad agency, co-working space, restaurant, loft, boat or barn.  It’s definitely preferable if there’s open seating or no seats, but theaters are okay too.

— Has a bar or would allow a bar setup

Let us know where you are, how you can help us market the event, and if you can offer our team (of 2-4 people) a place to stay for the night. 

4. You can offer a financial contribution to the film. If you’ve enjoyed Girl Walk // All Day for any period of time, or if it has made you smile, dance, laugh or cry, please consider supporting us in an amount that makes sense to you. All funds will go towards helping us show this film in more venues and additional villages, towns and cities around the world.

Chapter 1 of Girl Walk // All Day comes out on Gothamist tomorrow! READY????

When we launched our official trailer in October, we announced that we’d be releasing our film chapter-by-chapter on Gothamist.com this winter. That time has arrived! Tomorrow, Tuesday, November 29th, Chapter 1 of Girl Walk // All Day will hit the Internet, first on Gothamist, then here on our site. We’ll continue to release one chapter at a time on Tuesdays and Fridays on Gothamist.com, throughout December and into mid-January. Once all twelve chapters have been released, we’ll put the film, in its entirety up on our site, free for you and everyone you wish to tell about it, to watch. 

We thought long and hard about the best way to bring you our movie, because in reality, we want all of you to be in a big room with giant screens and loud speakers, watching and dancing together. The computer screen is hardly the best medium for this film. We considered how for many of you, it’d be tough to watch the entire of a 75-minute long film in your chair at work,  or wherever you might encounter your first bit of Girl Walk // All Day. This is a film that (we hope) makes you want to tap your feet, stand up and grab your neighbor (or co-worker’s) hand, and drop what you’re doing and start dancing.

By sharing our film in chapters on a website that’s all about New York, we are giving you what we feel is the perfect amount of time to take from your lunch break to get a smile on your face. We want you to watch Chapter 1, then watch it again when Chapter 2 comes out, then watch it again when the whole film is online. We hope you’ll let us know when a dance move or character or moment in the film touches you and makes you happy, and that you’ll share our film, chapter-by-chapter, with the world.

Enjoy the first chapter when it arrives tomorrow. We’re incredibly excited to be sharing it with the world and we continue to thank you for all of your support.

We couldn’t be more excited to announce the long-awaited New York City premiere of Girl Walk // All Day on Thursday, December 8th, 2011 at the Brooklyn Masonic Temple in Brooklyn, New York! We’re teaming up with Kickstarter to present a fantastic night of events featuring the first official screening of the film, an audiovisual performance, live djs and a dance party. It’s going to be a blast. 

Thanks to Kickstarter, the premiere will be free and open to the public. An RSVP is required for general admission: http://kickstarter.com/rsvp

Note: General admission tickets are first-come, first-served on the day of the event and an RSVP does not guarantee entry.
